If you are like most people, you may not have a solid understanding of how the various components of Communication Manager react once there is a outage. You may be wondering when will the IP Phones rebuild a new socket to an available
C-LAN card, when will the G650's IPSI connect to the ESS, when will the G450 fail over to an LSP, or why is it taking so long for my phones to come back up after an outage.

Most of the time, the system is behaving exactly as you told it to. Communication Manager has administrable timers that define all of these interactions. Not only do you need to understand these timers individually, but you must also understand how they relate to each other. There is usually a very specific sequence of how things should happen, and the default settings aren't always the best options for all scenarios and customer environments.
